Misrepresentation Kills.

Description

I'm not saying that it's impossible for someone to own a wolf-dog.  It's just so many people claim to own a dog that is part wolf that very clearly isn't.

The sad truth is that many of these people have no idea that their dog doesn't have any wolf in them. Many people are told by the breeders that the dog they are selling is part wolf, or by others who may think that the dog looks wolf like. Some are even told by vets that their dog might b e part wolf even when the dog contains no wolf at all!

A lot of these misidentifications come from the media, breeders or other pet owners representing their domestic dogs as wolves or part wolves. This seems harmless, but the more it happens the more the general public's idea of what a wolf looks like begins to mix with their idea of what a domestic dog looks like. Leaving it very difficult for people to tell a wolf-like domestic dog from an actual wolf.

Unfortunately, this misrepresentation results in the deaths of more dogs than you think. Some dogs that are seen wandering around residential areas are shot because they are suspected to be wolves. And many are killed in shelters because they appear to be mixed with wolves. Therefor deemed dangerous and unadoptable.

So, I know the idea of owning a wolf is really awesome, and "wolf-ish"dogs are some of the most unique and beautiful breeds. But is best for dogs everywhere that you do not claim to have a wolf-dog unless you are 100% sure.

People shouldn't even own a wolf or a "wolf-dog" in the first place. :| Wolves were ment to be wild violent predators and not cute cuddly calm house dogs.
